For Sale! [May 2014 Edition]

This is a new monthly feature for AV: a quick look at the most interesting stuff for sale in the old continent. The blog doesn’t mean to alienate our good friends in the US of A, but there are already plenty of big sites keeping a close eye on all the nice things that pop up in the market there.

[Note: I am not in contact nor am I affiliated with any of these sellers. I get absolutely no compensation of any kind for featuring these ads on Automotive Views. I do not own any of the pictures utilized.]

1989 Mercedes Benz 560 SEC AMG Wide Body

560 SEC AMG Wide Body
One of the best of the best. Serious German muscle, vintage AMG in all its glory. This is a rare find on its most basic form, let alone in a wide body configuration. Just look at that thing! Astonishing! You can read all about the 560 SEC AMG WB on two of my previous posts which you can find here and here.

1976 Lancia Stratos Stradale

Lancia Stratos Stradale
Mad styling? Check. Ferrari engine? Check. Racing pedigree? Big check! The Stratos was one of the top dogs on the legendary Group 4, winning the WRC 3 years in a row. This is a Stradale (road going) version of the rally beast and with fewer than 500 Stratos ever made, it’s a rare bird too.

1986 Aston Martin V8 Vantage X-Pack

Aston martin V8 Vantage X-Pack
Nothing Aston Martin made since has been even remotely as cool as the V8 Vantage. Some people thing the DB5 is Aston’s greatest achievement, but to me this is it, this is the real deal. Equipped with the coveted X-pack, this Vantage is ready to scare the life out of you…and you’ll enjoy every minute of it. Read more about the V8 Vantage on this previous AV post.

1980 Rolls Royce Camargue

Rolls Royce Camargue
Ok, Rolls Royce has made some “interesting” looking things over the years, but the Camargue really takes the cake. Brain child of Paolo Martin (at Pininfarina, the same gentleman who brought us the achingly beautiful Fiat 130 Coupe), the Rolls Royce Camargue has been consistently featured in the ugliest cars lists. In fact, I absolutely love how the seller even wrote in the description “An acquired taste in the classic Rolls Royce world”. I think the Camargue’s reputation (as far as looks, reliability is what you’d expect from an 80’s Rolls) highly unfair because to me it looks great! It has charisma and presence. In this day and age in which so many cars are painfully bland, boring and virtually indistinguishable from each other, we should learn to appreciate individuality and character more; this thing has both of those by the bucket load. Huge boxy Rolls FTW.

1977 Alfa Romeo Montreal

Alfa Romeo Montreal
Gorgeous styling and a V8 engine, one of Alfa Romeo’s greatest achievements (which didn’t translate into a sales success due to price and…well, being an Alfa – draw from that what you wish). Rare, sexy, unique and highly desirable.

1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 “Daytona”

Ferrari Daytona
THE Ferrari. Arguably the best looking (road going) prancing horse of them all…stunning in black too. You can find out more about the Daytona in this previous AV post.
Price: Auction, estimated 300.000€ to 400.000€ (413.000 to 560.000 USD)

1973 Lamborghini Jarama

Lamborghini Jarama
A Lamborghini which doesn’t look at all like a Lamborghini (well, at least not the image we tend to have of one because that perception has been strongly defined by the Countach, maintained by the Diablo and secured by the Murciélago). Beautiful and unique in its styling, you can read all about the Jarama in a previous AV post here.

1962 Aston Martin Lagonda Rapide

Lagona Rapide
Aston Martin tapped into the market for fast saloons by taking a DB4 chassis and lengthening it, adding a gorgeous Touring body on top. The result is a work of art which just happens to sit on four wheels.
Price: Auction, estimated 98.000€ to 147.000€ (135.000 to 203.000 USD)

1962 Maserati 3500 GT

Maserati 3500 GT
The definition of Grand Tourer and one of Maserati’s finest moments. Gorgeous in every way, this particular example was completely restored recently, which is a huge plus. The dodgy Lucas fuel injection was also replaced by good old Webbers.

1993 Mercedes Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II AMG

190E 2.5-16 Evolution II AMG
That’s a mouthful! Mercedes’ answer to “how are we gonna make a 190E go like a bat out of hell?”, the 190E 2.5-16…etc is getting harder to find each year (and way more expensive). For a long time the value on these things were relatively low, but now it looks like people are finally noticing them for the extraordinary machines that they are.

1963 Bentley S3 Continental Fixed Head Coupe by Mulliner Park Ward

Bentley S3 Continental Coupe
Another mouthful, but then again I like long car names; stuff like “Up” and “Ka” bugs me for some reason (these models themselves not particularly withstanding). As far as Bentley coupes are concern, the granddaddy of priciness is of course the S1. This “Chinese eye” S3 has a much more controversial styling, but I actually like it much better than the S1. Apart from the craziness in the front (which I personally find charming), the S3 Coupe is a big, beautifully shaped, classy car and I certainly wouldn’t mind being in the market for one.

2014 Mercedes Benz G63 AMG 6X6

G63 AMG 6X6
For people who feel that their AMG G-Class simply doesn’t have enough wheels. This mammoth of a Mercedes needs to find its way to Dubai where it belongs.
