1977 Jaguar XJ-S

It took a long, long time for Jaguar’s XJ-S to start being recognized as more than just a rolling British Leyland-sized headache. The styling was controversial, the reliability issues were rampant and the E-Type, which preceded it, was simply too tough of an act to follow. However, we’re finally starting to see some XJ-S appreciation rising to the surface. It is a stunning looking thing, way ahead of its time design-wise and now, there are a number of companies dedicated to making them run and drive as well as they should have coming out of the factory. The one we’re featuring here is a gorgeous, manual, early example and certainly an investment for the future. Will prices ever go insanely high? Unlikely, but good examples will grow increasingly more difficult to find, pushing values up. So if you’re in the market for an XJ-S, waiting long probably won’t do you any favors.

2001 TVR Tuscan

TVR cars have always been…interesting. From the way they handle to the way they were assembled, nothing about TVRs is common…or practical…or safe. They have always been dream rides and the Tuscan was one of Blackpool’s most mouthwatering creations. Nothing looked like the Tuscan before and nothing has looked like it since; in the early 00’s, it was as if aliens had come to earth, parked a few cars, and left. With an incredibly fluid and effortlessly beautiful design, the Speed Six Tuscans cemented themselves into the dreams and aspirations of petrolheads worldwide through console games appearances, becoming a staple of the legendary Gran Turismo series. The Tuscan offered here for sale by Cool Classic Club is a tempting, inexpensive entry to the sports car world. TVRs are wild, unpredictable, moody, demanding…but they’re also fast, raw and exciting. There’s nothing to save you from yourself in a Tuscan, no clever electronics to bring you back from the brink. Do the rewards outweigh the risks? It’s up to you.
If you have the time, please, please read the seller’s description (which we assume to be a direct translation), it’s hilarious and it ends with a Clarkson quote: “Owning a TVR is like owning a bear. Exciting, exotic and it will be great until it rips your head off, which it eventually will.” When the selling point is that the car will kill you, you know it’s something really special.

1982 Lancia 037 Rally

We’ve brought up the 037 several times on AV, so we won’t get into much detail now. Suffice to stay it was the last RWD car to beat Audi’s titan, the Quattro in the WRC stage. It’s beautiful, it’s special, it’s an icon. This particular example was driven (training sessions) by Rhorl himself at San Remo rally in 1983 and it has FIA papers. A must for Group B monsters aficionados.
